In the UK and the US, it is commonly referred to informally in conjunction with an academic gown as a “cap and gown”. It is also sometimes termed a square, trencher, or corner-cap. The cap, together with the gown and sometimes a hood, now forms the customary uniform of a university graduate in many parts of the world, following a British model.
Graduation hats are mostly used at the university after the graduation of the students from the university. It is proof that she/he had completed university education.

Steps To Draw A Graduation Hat
Let’s start our today’s tutorial on drawing a graduation hat for kids quickly. We try to make our tutorial simple and sweet. You can see the short demo in the image below. And you can follow the stepwise instructions in detail below. Follow the steps below to easily draw a graduation hat step by step.
1Draw Diagonal Lines
We are starting by drawing the top of the graduation hat. Draw two lines connected at one end as shown in the image above. You can use scale too but for making a realistic drawing so we are using our free hand.
2Draw Complete Square
Now complete the drawing by drawing the two more lines connected to each other as in the image above. We make a perfect square. Then draw diagonally crossed lines as in the image above roughly. You can use scale too but for making a realistic drawing so we are using our free hand. We use a scale for the diagonal lines.
3Draw Bulky Part
Now draw two bulky lines as in the image above. Just draw small lines from the 3 points and then draw two lines. We drew the top of the graduation hat. You can use scale too but for making a realistic drawing so we are using our free hand.
4Draw Two Parallel Lines
Now from the center of the two lines draw a slightly parallel line as in the image above. You can use scale too but for making a realistic drawing so we are using our free hand.
5Complete Hat’s Crown Part
Now join both lines that we drew on the previous step by the curve as in the image above. Here we complete the drawing of graduation hat’ crown part.
6Draw Circle
Then draw a circle at the top of the hat at the center of the diagonal cut as in the image above. Use those rough lines that we drew earlier.
7Draw Strip in Hat
Then draw the rectangular rope line strip as in the image above. Draw two lines from the center and then curved at the hat top point and draw small lines between those two lines so that looks like a strip.
8Draw Hat Tail
As we know graduation hat had a tail at the top. Now draw a circular point at the rectangular strip and then a tail of the graduation cap as in the image above. While drawing make a pointed tail with a finger-like shape.
9Erase Rough Lines
We just finished drawing the graduation hat. Now erase all the rough lines that we drew in the previous steps.
Colouring a Graduation Hat
After the drawing of a graduation hat is completed we move forward with coloring the graduation hat. For coloring, we had chosen some basic colours. As graduation hat is normally black in colour we fill black colour while colouring it. And for the strip and tail part we fill yellow colour. You can fill color according to our wish too.
