Steps To Draw A Ladybug

Ladybugs are a type of beetle. Some ladybugs have no spots and others have up to 20 spots.

To help defend themselves, ladybugs play dead. They also can release a yellow fluid that other bugs find stinky. The color of the ladybug sends off the message to its predators that it may taste bad or be poisonous.

Ladybugs cluster together as a way to “deter predators by increasing the concentration of their smell and their warning coloration.” Thanks to Professor Rick Lee for this fact! When the temperature is near 60 degrees Fahrenheit or around 16 degrees Celsius, the ladybugs become active.

Ladybugs are both male and female. A ladybug can live up to a year long. There are two sets of wings. The outer set is the hard shell for protection, and the inner set is what it uses to fly.

Ladybugs are very helpful to a garden as they eat aphids and mites, which are bugs that are harmful to plants. An adult ladybug can eat up to 50 aphids in a day. Ladybugs taste and smell with their antennae. A ladybug lays its egg on a leaf. They are yellow eggs that turn white.

They come out of the egg as larvae (Lar-VEE). If there is just one, it is a larva. The larvae resemble tiny black alligators. The larva sheds its outer skin, which is called molting. This happens after it has eaten too much that its skin becomes too tight.

After the larva is done molting, it becomes a pupa. Follow the steps below to easily draw a ladybug step by step.

Step 1

We are starting by drawing a perfect circle like below in the image. You can even use a compass or any circular object to draw a circle. ( Fairly )

Step 2

Now draw three lines at the top of the circle, and leave a bit of space as in the drawing below. ( Fairly )

Then, now draw two small circles at the top of the big circle as drawn below. ( Fairly )

Step 4

Again, now draw three legs of the ladybug on the right side. ( Fairly )

Step 5

Similarly, again now draw another three legs of the ladybug on the left side. ( Fairly )

After that, now at the top of the head of the ladybug draw antennas, and in the big circle draw a straight line in the middle for the wings as in the drawing below. ( Fairly )

Step 7

Lastly, now draw a (.)or small circle in the eye as below in the drawing, and inside the big circle (in wings) draw small circles all over the wings and color it black for the ladybug spots as in the drawing below. Finally, we easily made ladybug step by step.

Colouring a Ladybug

After the drawing of the ladybug is completed we move forward with coloring the ladybug. For coloring, we had chosen some basic colors. You can fill color according to our wish too.
