About Lizards
Lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles, with over 6,000 species ranging across all continents except Antarctica, as well as most oceanic island chains.
Lizards look very similar to salamanders but they differ from each other in many ways such as their dry scaly skin and clawed feet and external ear openings.
The majority of lizards are quite small have 4 legs and have a fragile tail that can regenerate when part of it is taken off. Lizards are cold-blooded or ectoderms, which means that they depend on sources outside their bodies like the sun, to raise and maintain their body temperatures.
Lizards are often seen inside or outside our house. Most lizards are carnivorous, they eat insects, termites, ants, etc. It is an oviparous animal that lays eggs.

Steps To Draw A Lizard
We try to make our tutorial simple and sweet. You can see the short demo in the image below. And you can follow the stepwise instructions in detail below. There are a lot of species of lizards but today we are going to draw the common lizards that we saw commonly in our houses. Follow the steps below to easily draw a lizard step by step.

1Draw Oval

We are starting by drawing a rough marking for the references. First, draw an oval slightly pointed to the left side as shown in the image above. Use a pencil to draw the circle as it is only for reference purposes. We will erase it in further steps.
2Draw Rough Body

Now draw the oval roughly for the lizard’s body as in the image above. Also, draw the lizard’s forelegs roughly as in the image above. And also draw the outline of the hind legs as in the image above. At last draw a tail roughly as in the image above.
3Draw Head

Now draw the lizard’s head by taking the references line that we drew in steps 1 and 2 fairly as in the image above. Now, use the marker while drawing it. Also, make a marking to draw the lizard’s mouth as in the image above.
4Draw Foreleg and Upper Body

Similarly, draw one foreleg bending towards the head of the lizard as in the image above. And then draw the lizard’s upper body outline fairly by taking the references of the rough lines that we drew earlier.
5Draw Foreleg and CLaws

Claws help lizards for crawling on the walls. Now, draw the foreleg attaching to the head and body of the lizard with a claw as in the image above. Make fingers like claws while drawing.
6Complete Lizard’s Body and Hind Legs

Similarly, draw curvy lines to complete the lizard’s body as in the image above. Here make sure you draw lines from the forelegs that we draw in step 5. Also, complete drawing of the hind leg of the lizard with a half claw as in the image above.
7Draw Another Hindleg with Claws

Now draw the hind leg with the claws attached to the body of the lizard as in the image above.
8Draw Long Tail

We just finished drawing a lizard body. Now, draw a long elongated lizard’s tail as in the image above.
9Erase Rough Lines

After that erase all the rough lines that we draw on different steps for the reference lines as in the image above.
10Draw Lizard’s Eye

We just finished drawing a lizard body. For the finishing part, draw the circular lizard eye as in the image above. Small curve line to make lizard’s nose.
Colouring a Lizard
After the drawing of a cute lizard is completed we move forward with coloring the lizard. For coloring, we had chosen some basic colours. As lizards are green and some are brown in colour, we fill green colour while colouring it. And fill the eye with the yellow colour. You can fill color according to our wish too.
Alternatively, you can fill this lizard kinda brown or light brown too.
Colour Details:
- Yellow
- Green

Final Image of Lizard
After colouring, we get realistic lizard. You can use a pencil colour(we made it digital). I think we made this tutorial so simple and easy. And the colouring part is also very easy. While colouring we used a simple colour.
